It’s an article of faith among Democrats that the President’s base consists primarily of white working class voters without college degrees, and that they must be won back in order to beat Trump in 2020. This is why Elizabeth Warren inflicted that cringe-making, “I’m gonna get me a beer,” video on a long-suffering electorate. It is why Joe Biden, who reputedly enjoys a special rapport with blue collar voters, is the frontrunner for his party’s presidential nomination despite his penchant for gaffes and plagiarism. Thus, during this week’s Democratic debates, the candidates will devote considerable effort to courting the “deplorables.”
This will, however, be an exercise in futility because everything

“In the end, however, it doesn’t really make very much difference. Trump voters all have at least one thing in common. They know that not a single Democrat on that NBC stage Wednesday or Thursday can be trusted,” nor most GOPe, like Mittens, Marco, Lindsay, even CJ Roberts; only Devin Nunes, Jim Jordan, Mark Meadows and other Freedom Caucus members, to name a few...

The Left "clung desperately to their belief that his supporters were a contemptible collection of irredeemable, uneducated homophobes, xenophobes, and racists."
In summary, their self esteem demands that they feel morally superior so they cast such aspersions against us and Trump to diminish us and elevate themselves above us. The Left is the elite and they feel entitled to their superiority.
"supporting Trump simply isn’t the done thing in polite society"
Simply, because if you do, it will trigger any Leftists within earshot. Been there, done that. The ugly emotional meltdown is simply not worth it. Support for Trump is an assault on the Left's moral superiority. It's personal. Therefore, you get passionate, virulent blowback.

In my business dealings, I keep my mouth shut unless I know that the person I’m talking to is a conservative. In my personal life I keep it easy - I don’t associate with anyone who is left of center.
I’ve never been polled but if I were I would lie. Just to skew the data for the left.

"There is no easier way to render a room silent at a social occasion or start an altercation at a family gathering than to praise President Trump or anything he has accomplished — no matter how benign."
I find the opposite is true, voicing support for any Dimocrat. I guess I live in a different reality.

The Democrat party has abandoned moderate white blue collar voters in favor of far left identity politics. They would rather pander to blacks, Hispanics, gays, women, and commies. They are out only for themselves. They are dishonest and corrupt. They don't care about us.

Zephyrman and I have three inscribed pictures of the Trumps (Donald, Melania, and D&M together) on our mantle. Whenever we entertain liberal friends, those pictures are out of sight. It isn't worth the risk of a fight. In this day and time, liberals can't seem to "agree to disagree." What is interesting is that most of our liberal friends live conservative lives, and even espouse conservative values, but still reflexively pull the (D) lever at election time.

How about their outrage that Trump gave us tax cuts and we like them? How about the fact that minority unemployment is at historic lows, and minorities like that? How about all decent people across all political parties being offended by the NY governor signing that infanticide anytime anyplace bill into law? Then insulting his own father's memory by doing it in his honor? Then there are the attacks on the reputations of innocent people, all because they have been associated with Trump in some fashion, not because they committed a crime. Many many reasons to avoid democrats, the death cult party. This doesn't even begin to touch the subject of socialist/marxist garbage the younger members want to install.

Strange that millions of Democrats accept the idea that all Trump voters are ignorant scum, but that is all they hear on the so called news.

The first sentence, up to the comma, the Dems 'article of faith' is pure BS. I have two graduate engineering degrees, and I have many friends who are also college graduates who are strong Trump supporters.
Dems are full of cr*p, as usual.
And NOTHING that they could possibly say or do would make me vote Dem - EVER. And most of the Republicans are in the same boat, few enough of them really want to save this country the way President Trump does.
Catron is exactly right when he writes:
"This will, however, be an exercise in futility because everything they believe about Trump’s base is false. Their view of this large and growing segment of the electorate is distorted by a myth concocted primarily by the media to explain away a deeply uncomfortable reality — that Trump possessed a better understanding of the public mood than did the professional political class. #8, it is a shame you hide your Trump support. Have you ever considered that you might be missing an opportunity to change a few minds for the better?

Quite correct 13. I support my president and I won't hide that fact for anybody. We have functions at our home where there are bound to be some people on the left side of the ledger but there are several things in my house that show clearly where we stand and if they don't love that or are shocked then please don't come back...

What all this boils down to, and what the mistaken polls showed before the last election, that there is about a 15% of the electorate out there who give pollsters false data as to their voting intentions, and in the end will merrily, privately, and silently cast their vote for Donald Trump.

President Trump is the best communicator i have ever heard. I was with him 3 years ago, June 16, 2015.
To me it is enough he got US out of the disastrous Paris Accord. China, The Wall, Tax Cuts, 3.2%, 9 Trillion in market cap, my 401k overflowing, full employment are just adornments. Donaldus Magnus is amazing and does not stop working for US. None of the Trump voters will vote Democrat. That is why they have to go with voter fraud.

They know they will never win any Trump voters. That is why they are desperate to import millions of illegal voters, who are so ignorant of the truth that they will vote often and vote Democrat.

RE #3, #6, #8, #11: I think many Americans are woefully (in some cases willfully) ignorant of current political events and the people involved. Most do not realize the mainstream media functions as the public relations arm of the democrat party. Plus, it is easier for them to simply believe what they hear than to actually THINK about its' veracity or take time to get the facts.
I recently asked a family member (who was railing about something PDJT said) what has he DONE that you dislike? Repeated the question twice before she finally said she didn't like that he separated children from their parents. She was totally unaware of who was being separated or why; that pictures of kids in cages were taken during the Obama adminstration and kids are being traffiked to create fake families.
There are two sides to every story and that's where we come in. Forewarned is forearmed. Know the facts. Ask what has he DONE that you dislike? If you know the other side of the story, tell the truth and state the facts. Then encourage them not to take your word for it and use Google to look it up. You may have to tell or show them how to find the info since Google results are biased against conservative sites. https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2018/09/10/trump-google-youtube-search-results-biased-against-republicans-conservatives-column/1248099002/
Gently challenge reasonably intelligent lefties to confront the reality that what they hear and see is not all there is to be heard or seen. If they care about the truth, our words will matter. If they don't care about the truth, then nothing we say will matter.
