Rep. Bennie Thompson has filed legislation that would remove Secret Service protection from those who have been sentenced to at least one year in prison. Thompson previously served as the chair of the January 6 Select Committee.
The bill is called the "‘Denying Infinite Security and Government Resources Allocated toward Convicted and Extremely Dishonorable Former Protectees Act," also called the "DISGRACED Former Protectees Act." It states that Secret Service protection shall be terminated for "any person upon sentencing following 7 convictions for a Federal or State offense that is punishable for a term of imprisonment of at least one year."

An 81-year-old Ohio man has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting an Uber driver who thought she was picking up a package from the man's house. Both appeared to have been victims of scam phone calls, the Clark County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
The Uber driver, Loletha Hall, was found shot multiple times near 81-year-old William Brock's South Charleston home on March 25. Brock, who had called 911, had an injury to his head and ear and was bleeding when police arrived, according to a police report.
An investigation is underway by the Federal Aviation Administration and United Airlines after a member of the Colorado Rockies’ traveling party was allegedly seen on video sitting in the captain’s chair in the plane’s cockpit during the team’s flight on April 10, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The Department of Energy (DOE) funded energy-related research involving a scientist from an Iranian university linked to the country’s nuclear program.
The DOE’s Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO) is listed as the funding agency for a study on advanced technology that could help power grids go green. One of the seven researchers credited as an author of the study, Mohammad Hasan Ravanji, is a professor of electrical engineering at Iran’s Sharif University of Technology (SUT), a university that has been sanctioned by several Western countries for its advancement of Iran’s nuclear program and connections to the country’s military.
