House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) made history Thursday night just before midnight by essentially surrendering Republican majority control to Democrats.
For the first time in recorded history — since the House began keeping records — the House Rules Committee relied on minority party votes to overcome objections from the majority and advance a rule bill to the House floor. The committee voted nine to three, with all four Democrats on the committee voting with five Republicans to move a rule to the House floor, which, if passed with Democrat support as expected, would allow votes on Johnson’s foreign aid package, including a bill that includes tens of billions to fund Ukraine.

The actions of Mike Johnson boggle the mind. Is he even listening to the American people or has he decided in his abundant wisdom that he knows better? Our Republic is being destroyed by such men. They go to Washington and for some reason either personal greed or fear of exposure of something in their background end up betraying the people who put him in office.
People who grind on about McCarthy’s ousting need to understand that these “leaders” must be held to account. When they betray the trust of the people they must pay the price. Johnson has made a 180 in his short time as speaker. He promised many things and has reneged on them. It is he who has moved to the dark side. He could have made real strides in office but chose to betray us. How anyone could partner with the democrats especially on an issue that the majority of Americans are against is unforgivable. It is the worst kind of betrayal to the American people. He is propping up the military industrial complex and actually enabling corruption. Where is the accountability for Ukraine to explain how all this aid is being spent? Millions if not billions have gone missing. Does not this give rise to any curiosity from Johnson? Good grief, the country desperately could use those funds and to have the audacity to give Ukraine more is appalling. Johnson has lost our trust as he should when he pushes our tax dollars to a failed country riddled with corruption and fighting an unwinnable war. This must stop. Apparently, we are the biggest chumps in the world when we send our money and men and women to fight these war for profit abominations.
I am beyond disappointed with Mike Johnson. He caved to the deep state almost immediately and has betrayed us. What good is he when he enables the most corrupt and lawless political party in the history of the world to continue its planned destruction of the country. He is no hero. He is what we fear most, a Republican swap creature without a moral or political compass.

Mike Johnson just essentially surrendered Republican majority control to Democrats, I am not so sure he is simply compromised by the Dems or falling all over himself to please the Dems.
Now it seems more like he is showing his true colors, that he is really a hard core Leftist who has been running a moderate conservative con on the country.

There hasn't been a loyal American SOTH since Newt Gingrich. Mite-sized Johnson is merely the latest in a line of Repubcapon back-stabbers. Their team is evil and relentless; ours is inept and compromised. We're in deep Kimchee. PDJT is Horatio at the bridge, and there's about 3000 of them.

The Speaker cannot lead from a position of power when he has so damn many backstabbers in his own party!
The RINOs walking out on their terms are the ones who got "bought and paid for" to knee cap the promises and agreements the republicans in Congress made back in September of 2022 to do things different, and he has been backed into a corner of weakness by media showboaters MRG, Gaetz and now libertarian 'republican' Massie.
The "red wave" never materialized over abortion and other irregularities that were holdovers from the coup that took place in the 2020 election. Very many republicans are compromised in some way lacking in integrity and fidelity and the media does its very best to AVOID giving the ones who are not any positive coverage.
Bringing in ILLEGAL ALIENS to populate the BLUE cities for the purpose of tipping the Electoral College by counting them in the next census is a long-game effort to take over the Electors by propping up the numbers that are apportioned since they cannot yet NULIFY all of the Constitution.
The issue at hand of printing more money to pay for Ukraine when our BORDER situation is IGNORED is s terrible thing when it is not as important as the safety of Americans! Republicans are FAR OFF holding to the principles of Ronald Reagan because they have abandoned efforts to CUT the size of government, to pass balanced budgets, and control unnecessary spending.
The squabbling among the 'Gaston's' for controversial media coverage which disparages ALL republicans and the disunity in all of the narcissists among them shows that they are a vile and vain as the demonrat socialist Marxists.
Pray for clarity of thought and not media lies and persuasion to return to the voters of this nation to protect the values which made our nation great! Our parents and grandparents who lived through Great Depressions and War and gave us guidance to continue our culture are gone or will be gone soon, and the young people and their impressionable minds must be educated and told the truth about where all this is headed because of those behind the scends of the puppet installed in the WH who does the bidding of the Nobama/Hitlery/Soros crowd to their detriment.

how many times have we, on this site, written about the repubs ability to shoot themselves in the foot for no reason at all except that they are incapable of governing,
well, they've done it again and this makes 2024 look very, very bad for our President, if he even wins the 2024 election
the inability of the repubs to stay afloat in this sea of muck and corruption is incomprehensible,
in short, we have no one to speak for us except our President and he is being hamstrung and disabled by the most corrupt people who have ever been placed in public office and
who will drive this country into the hands of the world communist neighborhood, which, for those of us who remember the past recall the evils of communism and the communist state and
I, for one, don't want anything to do with it

Even if they allow PDT to win, we will still lose. The uniparty will own the House and Senate; those elections will be stolen just like they were in 2022. The question is when will we take our country back from these backstabbing, lying scoundrels? Dragging is in order; they won't be convinced to go because they're evil.

You know, Ldotters, for years we, I and many others have talked about republicans shooting themselves in the foot. We say they are feckless, they are stupid. But now, with each one of these so-called republicans, guys who we thought would finally turn things around, with everyone of them continuing strongly, emphatically to advance the agenda of the deep state and uni-party, we see clearly ladies and gentlemen this is deliberate. Republicans are not stupid and feckless. Their actions are calculated and destructive, and they too, with more finesse perhaps than traitorous democrats, abide by the "any mean necessary" motto. Whichever Ldotter said we haven't had a real, loyal republican since Newt Gingrich hit the nail on the head.
We ask for accountability for our side as well. Who will be punished finally for their treachery? Who will be made to walk the political plank? We seen plainly now, no one. There is no longer accountability in our country. There has been absolutely no accountability, not one speck of accountability for the lying, perjurious, fake Russian Hoax, FISA Court machinations, utterly corrupt and lying FBI officials. There is no justice as we see terrorists, rioters, criminals doing real harm to our country, murdering citizens, who even if caught face no real consequences. We see beloved true Americans, J6 political prisoners, people who committed no criminal acts, have their lives ruined, land in jail for years, often with no due process. And we see our President, Donald J. Trump, dragged through a so-called legal system that continues to batter and molest him and his family, on faked and corrupt charges.
This is America as we go into a 2024 election period. I don't even say elections any longer, because who knows if we ever again will have free and fair elections. And who knows what plans the deep state and uni-party have to tamper with or prevent the elections entirely. COVID set the stage for that. And as I write this, as an American who has lived for 72 years in the freest and most glorious country ever to grace this earth, I do fear a knock on the door from the deep state's enforcers.
Speaker Johnson's actions, a guy who many of us thought might finally set republicans back on track, his actions are a graphic indication of the continuing rot that has invaded our country. He has ceded control to the democrats. It will only be weeks, before he cedes the Speaker's gavel.

You can’t say that the wimpy Congressional Republicans are not tricky in their own right. As once they allow the leftist and progressive Democrats to take over control of the House of Representatives, they can go out and claim to Republican followers that there was nothing that they could do as the Congressional minority party to stop the Democrat majority party in the House of Representatives from passing all sorts of Democrat sponsored bills through the House of Representatives.

How many times did we hear about Mike Johnson and his Christianity? All I can say is that there are RINO's and CHRINO's. Republicans and Christians in name only. I am getting to the point where I want to ask a Christian if they have read the Bible from beginning to end - Genesis through Revelation. Isn't Mike Johnson aware that he has been called into leadership for the United States? We have many people in the United States suffering and all of those monies going to foreign countries are not helping our own citizens. So I guess I can broaden my statement to all elected leader whether it be federal, state, or local. You are elected to leadership positions here in the United States and please take care of the American citizens first!

We do not have a two-party system of government. At this point, I'm not sure we really have a government. We have a bunch of people after power and wealth instead. Many of those that control Washington don't even live there.

There appears to be confusion among the self-proclaimed Trump devotees who seemingly hang on his every word, but totally ignored his words of support for Speaker McCarthy and his more recent words of support for Speaker Johnson. How about Trump's nuanced support for providing Ukraine "loans" to continue their unwinnable war against Russian invaders? To the increasingly vocal Republican haters, how can you ignore the inconvenient fact that Trump is the pre-eminent Republican in the US?

#5 and #7 have it pretty close to on the money, but there may be other reasons. Read up on: Reward, Ideology, Coercion and Ego (RICE). It's a framework used, apparently by the intelligence agencies to pick an approach to get people and groups to behave in support of their objective.
